Integration
WordPress to Salesforce: members' details kept in step
A Jersey organisation keeps its members' accounts on its WordPress website and its relationships in Salesforce. An integration I built keeps the two in step, so sign-ups, profile changes, interests and logins reach Salesforce on their own.

The problem it solves
Without an integration, someone exports the website's users and types them into Salesforce. The CRM is always behind, people end up under the wrong company or twice, and nobody can easily see who's active or what they're interested in.
How it works
- 01
Picks up what's changed
When someone signs up, changes their profile or their interests, or an admin edits a user, the website marks them for the integration. Only those users are picked up, and every run is monitored.
- 02
Finds the right company
Each person is matched to their company in Salesforce by the domain of their email address, with the organisation's own rules for which members count as local.
- 03
Creates or updates the contact
If the person is already in Salesforce, their contact is updated. If not, a new contact is created under the right company. Their interests and the date they last logged in go onto the contact too.
- 04
Reports and tries again
Anyone who can't be matched or saved is listed in a report after the run and tried again next time.
What's included
Profiles
New sign-ups and profile changes, whether made by members or by staff, become contacts in Salesforce, linked to the right company.
Interests
The topics each member follows on the website are copied onto their contact, ready for marketing.
Logins
The date each member last logged in is kept on their contact, so the team can see who's active.
Reports and alerts
A report after every run, an alert if a job doesn't run, and an email with the details when something goes wrong.
Tools for checking
An admin app for looking up a user, seeing who's waiting to go across, comparing the two systems and running a job by hand, with built-in documentation.
Safe to change
Tests cover the rules without touching the live systems, and a test mode runs everything without saving changes.
The benefits
- No re-keying. Website sign-ups and changes reach Salesforce without anyone exporting or typing them in.
- Salesforce stays up to date. The CRM reflects the website, so the team works from current details.
- Contacts in the right place. Each person is linked to their company automatically.
- A clearer picture of members. Interests and last logins show who's engaged and what they care about.
- Problems don't go unnoticed. Anything that can't go across is reported, and tried again until it's fixed.
