Integrations
When your systems don't talk to each other, people fill the gap by retyping orders, exporting spreadsheets and checking one screen against another. I connect them so data moves on its own, accurately and on time.
What I can help with
Stores and stock
Keep stock, products and prices in step between your online store, warehouse and till system.
Accounts
Send orders, invoices and payments to your accounts software automatically.
Couriers and shipping
Create shipments and send tracking back to customers without retyping addresses.
CRM and email marketing
Keep customer records in step between your CRM, store and mailing list.
Older systems
Connect systems through their APIs, or through file exports and email where there's no API.
Alerts when something fails
When a connection fails, the right person hears about it, and nothing goes missing quietly.
How I approach it
Map the data first
Before writing code, I work out which system owns each piece of data and what should happen when two systems disagree.
Built to cope with failure
Services go down and data arrives in odd shapes. Integrations retry, keep a record of what happened and flag anything that needs a person.
Off-the-shelf where it works
If an existing app or connector does the job reliably, I'll recommend it rather than building one.
Not a black box
You get a plain description of what connects to what, so anyone can see how the data flows.
Recent work
Romerils
Supplier prices, stock levels, partner feeds and CRM connected to Shopify, with every job's results visible to staff.
Shopify orders straight into Jersey Post
Built for a Jersey retailer: orders go to Jersey Post on their own, and tracking comes back to Shopify.
Questions
- What if there's already an app or connector for it?
- If it does the job reliably, use it. A custom integration makes sense when the connector can't handle your data, your volumes or the exceptions your team deals with every day.
- Our system is old. Can it still be connected?
- Often, yes. If there's no API, there may be scheduled exports, a database or email that can be used instead.
