Integration
Shopify to Jersey Post: orders that go across on their own
A Jersey retailer selling online ships its orders with Jersey Post. An integration I built sends its Shopify orders to Jersey Post on their own and puts the tracking number back on each order, so nobody retypes names, addresses and order details.

The problem it solves
Without an integration, every order is copied from Shopify into Jersey Post by hand: the customer's name and address, the parcel's weight and the delivery service, then the tracking number back again. It's slow, and one typo sends a parcel astray.
How it works
- 01
Picks up new orders
New orders are picked up automatically, and every run is monitored.
- 02
Checks each one
Before anything is sent it checks the order: is it paid and unfulfilled, does it have one shipping method Jersey Post can carry, is the weight within limits, is the country supported, and has it been sent already. The first failure stops the order and records why.
- 03
Sends it to Jersey Post
Orders that pass go to Jersey Post with the customer's name and address, the right service for the shipping method and weight, and a parcel weight worked out from the items. Once Jersey Post accepts a shipment, its tracking number is written back onto the order in Shopify.
- 04
Flags anything that needs a person
An order that fails isn't retried on its own, because most failures are a wrong address or weight. The shop gets an email with the reason, fixes the order and sends it again.
What's included
Order checks
Fifteen rules that decide whether an order can go to Jersey Post, covering the shop's real cases, such as shipping methods named in more than one way.
Jersey Post shipments
The shipment is built from the order: the customer's name, company and address, the service, and the parcel weight.
A record of every order
What was sent, what came back and any error is kept for every order, so a question about a parcel can be answered straight away.
A dashboard for the shop
Orders with their check results, past submissions, recent Jersey Post shipments, logs, and a button to run the job by hand.
The benefits
- No retyping. Orders reach Jersey Post without anyone copying names, addresses or order details.
- Fewer mistakes. Every order is checked before it goes, and none is ever sent twice.
- Tracking in Shopify. The tracking number is on the order, so staff can find it without opening Jersey Post.
- Clear when something's wrong. Anything that can't go is flagged by email with the reason, in plain words.
- Quick answers. The dashboard shows every order's checks and what was sent, so questions about a parcel are quick to answer.
- Keeps up with changes. The rules are covered by tests, and if Shopify or Jersey Post change something, the monitoring shows it straight away.
