Internal systems
Many businesses run on spreadsheets, email threads and copy and paste. It works until it doesn't: figures don't match, things get missed, and only one person knows how it all fits together. I build internal tools that replace that with one system, shaped around how your team actually works.
What I can help with
Replacing spreadsheets
Turn the spreadsheets your business depends on into a proper system, with one copy of the data and no version confusion.
Workflows and approvals
Requests, sign-offs and handovers that move through set steps, with everyone able to see where things are.
Jobs, stock and orders
Track jobs, stock, orders or equipment from start to finish in one place.
Reports and dashboards
The figures you check every week, up to date and in one place, without pulling them together by hand.
Client and supplier records
One place for contacts, history, documents and notes, instead of inboxes and shared drives.
Permissions and history
Staff see and change only what they should, with a record of who did what and when.
How I approach it
Learn how the work really happens
I spend time with the people doing the work, because the real process is rarely the one that's written down.
Start with the most painful part
The first release tackles the job that costs the most time, so it earns its keep early. It grows from there.
Bring your data across
Existing spreadsheets and records are cleaned up and imported, so your team starts with real data on day one.
Connected to your other tools
It can link to your accounts, email, store or CRM, rather than becoming one more thing to keep up to date.
Recent work
Romerils
A catalogue dashboard, a jobs and integrations app, and a staff handbook, all inside Shopify Admin.
The Kitesurf Centre
An admin app that finds products missing images or categories and manages lesson and menu content.
Questions
- Isn't off-the-shelf software cheaper?
- Sometimes, and if an existing product fits I'll say so. A custom tool makes sense when the way you work is part of what sets you apart, or when you'd otherwise be bending several products to fit.
- Can we start small?
- Yes. Most internal systems start by replacing one spreadsheet or one process, and grow once the team trusts them.
